Mathematics is delivered in mixed ability classes with five hourly sessions each week. One session a week is devoted to problem solving where the children have the opportunity to work in pairs or small groups to promote using and applying mathematical skills. This session is called ‘The Big Think.’
Big Maths is a teaching programme that is incorporated into our maths lessons to help children to become numerate. It teaches children how to manipulate numbers and understand how the number system works, this then allows them to solve maths problems.
Big Maths has four sections known as CLIC. This stands for Counting, Learn Its, It's nothing new and Calculations.
